Emily McDowell & Friends bold & humourous

I’m not sure there is anyone quite like Emily McDowell – she founded Emily McDowell Studio back in 2013 after a decade in advertising. A cancer survivor herself, she found that after her good friend died the platitudes returned to irk her, so she started designing cards that in her words “speak to the human condition with honesty, humour, and heart.”

Her cards are designed for the relationships people really have, and her mission is to help people connect when they’re not sure what to say. She believes humanity is an endless source of inspiration. Her empathy card line was amongst the first we had here at Live Wires. Described as ‘support for serious illness and loss’, the range includes cards that are insightful, relatable and surprisingly, often very funny.

In January 2018 she joined forces with three fellow Californian women based companies and in January this year there was a name change to Emily McDowell & friends. Their new range of cards are here now - colourful, fun, with honest and upfront messages to make you laugh.
